West Dereham is a small village in West Norfolk close to the town of Downham Market.

The aims of the Heritage Group are to research and record the past of our village and to learn more about the local area.

Our first meeting was held in November 2005. We meet monthly, generally on the 3rd Thursday of each month in the Village Hall and try to arrange regular speakers or outings.
Subscription fees are £10 per person per year. (There is no extra charge to members for a general meeting however, if we have a speaker there is a small charge to cover costs.

Current projects

St Andrew's Church
A booklet has been produced about the Parish Church, St. Andrew's West Dereham.
Conservation is being undertaken of the church tithe record at the Norfolk Record Office.

Monumental Inscriptions
A project recording the inscriptions from headstones in the churchyard and plaques inside the church is underway.

A booklet about West Dereham Abbey has been completed.
